Project Syndicate published on 5 November 2013 a short essay titled "
Is China a Friend of Africa?" by Simplice Asongu, lead economist in the research department of the African Governance and Development Institute. The author concluded that "there is little hard evidence to support a malign view of China's investments in Africa."
