The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) published on 8 April 2015 a commentary titled "
Think Again: Somaliland and the Trouble with a Free Press" by Simon Allison, ISS consultant. The author concluded that Somaliland enjoys a level of press freedom better than elsewhere in the region. Nevertheless, there is room for improvement in how the government treats journalists and how journalists do their job.
