The Council on Foreign Relations published on 28 January 2022 a briefing titled "Understanding South Sudan's Postwar Struggle for Democracy and Accountability" by David J. Scheffer and Madeline Babin.
The authors conclude that South Sudan's 2018 peace agreement is on life support, awaiting meaningful implementation.
