Consultancy Africa Intelligence, a South African-based research and strategy firm, published on 14 April 2014 an analysis titled "
China's Role in Africa's Conflicts: Military Cooperation, Arms Transfers and Involvement in Peacekeeping Operations" by Diego Cordano. The analysis suggests there is a growing tension between Chinese responsibility as an international ascending power and its interest in protecting its economic and political ties with Africa.
