Ethiopia and Eritrea: Rising Tensions

Jason Mosley at Chatham House in London posted a brief commentary on 19 July 2012 titled "Ethiopia and Eritrea: Rising Tensions Amid New Opportunities for Engagement". He attributes the rising tension to the leaked release of the latest report by the United Nations Monitoring Group on Somalia and Eritrea. Selectively drawing from the report, Eritrea is urging that sanctions be removed. While tension may be rising, Mosley believes that this may also be the occasion for well-timed re-engagement by Eritrea with the international community.

A couple of unapproved versions of the UN report are circulating on the Internet. The official version has not yet been published by the UN. Once it does so, I will post the report.
