The World Bank has released its massive Doing Business 2013 report for Ethiopia. It covers the business environment, construction permits, electricity, property, credit, investing, taxes, trading across borders, contracts, insolvency, and labor.
Out of 185 economies ranked globally, the World Bank ranked Ethiopia 127 in 2013, a drop of two positions from 125 in 2012. By comparison, Rwanda ranked 52 and Eritrea 182. The average for Sub-Saharan Africa was 140. Ethiopia performed best on enforcing contracts and dealing with construction permits and worst on starting a business, trading across borders and protecting investors.
