South Sudan: Female Representation in SPLM

The Juba-based Sudd Institute issued on 15 January 2013 a brief study titled "SPLM Politics of Gender Equity" by Augustino Ting Mayai, director of research at the Sudd Institute.

While the study noted that women constitute 26.5 percent of parliamentary seats in South Sudan, i.e. exceeding the 25 percent quota, it concluded that the SPLM failed to enforce effectively its gender equity policy of 25 percent in nearly all other sectors of politics and the executive branch.
