Continuing Security Breakdown in Somalia

World Politics Review published on 20 October an interview with Yasin Ahmed Ismail, who heads a research analysis and consultancy group in East Africa and the Horn, titled "Somalia Bombing Exposed the Security Cracks that Have Allowed Al-Shabaab to Thrive."

The author argues that al-Shabaab has managed to infiltrate Somali society and continues to thrive through clan connections. He added that escalation of the U.S. military campaign could potentially lead to a reversal of public outrage against al-Shabaab's most recent truck bombing in Mogadishu.
