Foreign Policy posted on 6 June 2018 a commentary titled "Conflict in Abyei Could Reignite South Sudan's Civil War" by Sam Mednick.
The author concludes that if the United Nations withdraws Ethiopian peacekeepers from the long-contested and oil rich enclave of Abyei, it is likely to spark further fighting in an already unstable region.
