China and UK Agricultural Cooperation in Uganda

The China Africa Research Initiative (CARI) at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies published in October 2018 a working paper titled "China-Britain-Uganda: Trilateral Development Cooperation in Agriculture" by Hang Zhou.

The report details coordination challenges in a pilot project initiated by China and the UK in Uganda's cassava sector. The paper illustrates how the inclusion of a donor like China, which mainly serves as a provider of technical assistance, does not necessarily lead to a more horizontal development partnership between a traditional donor such as the UK and the Ugandan recipient.

CARI published a policy brief on the same subject.
