Ethiopia Asks US to Remain Neutral on Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam

Aljazeera posted on 4 March 2020 a story titled "Ethiopia: US Being 'Undiplomatic' over Nile Dam Project."

Since the beginning of the year, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury has been meeting with representatives of Ethiopia, Egypt, and Sudan in an effort to reach an accommodation on the process for filling the reservoir behind the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile so that it does not pose undue harm to the supply of water reaching downstream Egypt but allows Ethiopia to begin producing hydropower in a reasonable period of time. Ethiopia's foreign minister is concerned that the United States is no longer taking a neutral position on the disagreement.
