Reuters published on 20 February 2021 an article titled "U.S. to De-link Ethiopian Aid Pause from Dam Policy."
The US said it will de-link its pause on $272 million in development and security assistance to Ethiopia from its policy on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile that is part of a long-running dispute among Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan. The resumption of assistance remains tied, however, to other US concerns such as Ethiopia's handling of the humanitarian crisis in Tigray Region.
