Reuters published on 26 August 2021 an article titled "U.S. Says War in Ethiopia's North Could Affect Trade Benefits."
The U.S. trade representative informed Ethiopia's chief trade negotiator that Ethiopia's duty free access for exports to the United States under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) could be in jeopardy if human rights violations continue in northern Ethiopia. Ethiopia exported $525 million in goods, mostly under AGOA, to the United States in 2020.
