The New York Times published on 17 March 2022 an account titled "'Finish Them Off': Aid Workers, Found on Battlefield, Executed by Soldiers" by Simon Marks and Declan Walsh.
In June 2021, three aid workers from Doctors Without Borders were murdered on the battlefield in Tigray Region. According to this account, retreating Ethiopian National Defense Force soldiers were responsible for their deaths.
