The New York Times published on 20 May 2022 an article titled "Free Ambulances in Mogadishu, Thanks to This Determined Dentist" by Abdi Latif Dahir.
A Somali dentist, Abdulkadir Abdirahman Adan, started a single vehicle ambulance service free of charge sixteen years ago in conflict-plagued Mogadishu. Today, the service has a fleet of 22 ambulances and a team of 48 drivers, nurses, paramedics, radio operators, and security officers. The service is still free of charge.
