The National News published on 1 June 2022 an article titled "US Names Mike Hammer as New Horn of Africa Envoy" by Joyce Karam.
The State Department has named Mike Hammer, previously ambassador to Chile and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as the special envoy for the Horn of Africa, replacing David Satterfield. Ambassador Hammer will be the third special envoy in just over a year.
