Hiraan Online posted on 11 July 2022 an article titled "Somali President Visits Somali Army Brigade Trained in Eritrea."
Eritrea trained 5,000 Somali soldiers in Eritrea during the previous Somali government. A UN report alleged that some of these troops fought alongside Eritrean forces inside Ethiopia's Tigray Region during its conflict with central government forces. Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is on a visit to Eritrea where he met the Somali soldiers and said they would return to Somalia to join the campaign against al-Shabaab.
