The White House press secretary welcomed the central government and Tigray People's Liberation Front's willingness to negotiate. She also urged Eritrea and others to stop fueling the conflict.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement on 11 September 2022 "On the Occasion of the Ethiopian New Year" praising steps toward peace and confirming US support for Ethiopia's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
