The Royal United Services Institute published on 12 June 2023 an analysis titled "Deal or No Deal? An Appraisal of UK Engagement in Sudan" by Simon Rynn and Michael Jones.
The paper concludes that UK influence in Sudan will wane in the years ahead. Brexit played a part in this, but aid cuts and the rise of competitors such as China are more salient factors.
