China Remains Aloof from Sudan Conflict

The Middle East Monitor published on 6 September 2024 an article titled "China Lends Support to Political Process in Sudan."

During a meeting in Beijing, President Xi Jinping told the head of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, that China "supports the political process aimed at ending the conflict" in Sudan.

Comment:  China has carefully avoided getting involved in Sudan's civil war and has encouraged dialogue as a way to end the conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.  The statement above is another indication of China's desire to remain aloof from this conflict.
