Consultation between Chinese and African Foreign Ministers
The foreign ministers of China and 40 African countries, or their representatives, and representative of the African Union Commission held their Third Round of Political Consultations in New York on 23 September 2013. The joint communique issued after the event is long on platitudes and self-congratulation and short on substance. There were some intriguing remarks on China's willingness to deepen cooperation in the area of African peace and security, increase value added exports from Africa, and support Africa's industrial development and diversification.
