The Obama administration's Africa policy

I spoke with VOA's Joe De Capua on Dec. 31 about the Obama administration's priorities in sub-Saharan Africa. Here's my response to his question whether African nations expect too much from Obama given his African roots:
"I think probably that is true. I think there’s an enormous enthusiasm for the new president in Africa. And well deserved. At the same time, the Africans must understand the enormity of the issues that are facing the United States, both domestically and internationally. To some extent they’re going to have to wait in line for attention at the senior most level."
