Asia Times quotes my testimony

In a January 15, 2009, article in Asia Times titled "Masked motives in China's anti-piracy push," Bright B Simons writes on competing U.S. and Chinese interests in the Horn of Africa. Toward the end of the piece, Simons draws readers' attention to my testimony on July 21, 2005, about "China's Approach to East, North and the Horn of Africa." Simons writes:

Any localized variant of this kind of battle formation has integrity only in relation to the structure of the strategic theater. Readers skeptical about the connection of this worldview with the Horn of Africa situation may be well advised to pay close attention to the testimony of David Shinn, former US ambassador to Ethiopia, to the US Congress in the summer of 2005.
