On June 1, the CATO Institute in Washington published a sensible analysis (PDF) of the conflict in Darfur that is certain to anger some of the Darfur advocacy groups.
Written by Marc Gustafson, a Marshall scholar and doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford, it takes sharp exception to some of the conventional wisdom in the United States on Darfur.
While there may well be errors in the analysis, it provides a useful counterpoint to some of the exaggerations we have heard in recent years in much of the commentary on Darfur.
