The National Defense University in Washington is hosting a conference on Tuesday, March 8, titled "Horn of Africa Food Security Crisis: Implications for United States Africa Command".
The keynote speaker will be General Carter Ham, Commander, U.S. Africa Command. There will be five panels dealing with political and security issues in the Horn of Africa, environmental issues, open information sharing, NGO and IO roles in building local capacity and the U.S. Africa Command's approaches and way ahead.
Together with ambassador John Herbst, Center for Complex Operations, and assistant secretary of state for African affairs, Johnnie Carson, I will participate in the panel on political and security issues.
