Chatham House in London held a small roundtable in July 2011 with Somaliland politiciains, civil society, diaspora and thinkers along with experts from key international partners. This discussion focused on Somaliland's place in the world and sought to encourage new thinking about Somaliland.
Chatham House published in December 2011 a summary of the session. One conclusion was that Somaliland could benefit from being part of a formal process that would offer a path to regularizing its position in the eyes of Somalia, the African Union and the wider international community.
