South Sudan Expells Chinese Oil Official

The government of South Sudan expelled the Chinese president of the Chinese-Malaysian oil consortium Petrodar for allegedly helping the government in Khartoum to seize oil that South Sudan claims belongs to it. This is a particularly curious development as China buys most of South Sudan's oil.

The Voice of America asked me to comment on the situation in a report that it released on 24 February 2012. You can access that commentary in Mandarin here.
