Jon Temin, director of the Sudan and South Sudan program at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), wrote a piece for Foreign Policy on 15 October 2012 titled "Amptuation is No Cure for Cancer." He argues that the secession of South Sudan from Sudan has not solved the problems in Sudan. What is required is a focus on governance reform in Sudan.
