China Malls in South Africa

Think Africa Press published on 1 August 2014 a piece titled "Joburg's China Malls Phenomenon" by Romain Dittgen, a post-doctoral research fellow at the African Studies Centre and International Institute for Asian Studies in Leiden, Netherlands.  The China mall boom has been successful because of the wide range of products it offers at affordable prices.  With increasing competition, however, the business model must adapt.  Some malls are putting in food courts and providing a more customer-friendly environment.
