Impact of Kenyan Troop Withdrawal from South Sudan

World Politics Review published on 15 November 2016 an article titled "Kenya's Troop withdrawal Could Seal the Fate of South Sudan's Peace Process" by Andrew Green, a foreign correspondent.

Kenya has started the process of pulling out its 1,000 troops from the 13,000 UN uniformed peacekeeping force in South Sudan. Although Kenya has not announced the timetable for the complete troop withdrawal, the author suggests that if the UN is in unable to replace Kenyan troops with others, the gap in peacekeepers could have dire consequences. Kenya's decision could have an even greater negative impact on the long-term prospects for South Sudan's peace process.
