US Losing Patience with South Sudan's Leaders

The New York Times published on 17 November 2016 an article titled "U.S., in Shift, Backs Arms Embargo for South Sudan as Genocide Risk Rises" by Somini Sengupta.

U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, said this week that the United States is ready to impose an arms embargo against South Sudan in the wake of warnings about the possibility of genocide. The article says the Obama administration has lost patience with South Sudan's rival leaders, Salva Kiir and Riek Machar. This new policy may run counter to the approach being taken by China in South Sudan.
