The European Council on Foreign Relations published on 3 November 2020 a commentary titled "Trump, Biden, and How Europe Is Losing the Great Power Competition in Africa" by Theodore Murphy.
The author concludes that China will loom prominently in US policy towards Africa whether Donald Trump or Joe Biden wins the presidency. Trump has chosen to compete head to head with China in Africa. A Biden administration may shift the approach to one less directly confrontational.
