China has undertaken a diplomatic and economic offensive across Africa, seeking to prove itself as a reliable partner and erase criticism of its initial handling of the virus. Despite the fact that at the beginning of the pandemic some predicted it would lead to a downturn in relations between China and Africa, it has now become clear that the Communist Party has attempted to use the pandemic as an opportunity to strengthen such ties.
