The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute published in December 2020 a background paper titled "The European Union Training Mission in Somalia: An Assessment" by Paul D. Williams and Hussein Yusuf Ali.
The report provides an overview of the European Union Training Mission in Somalia and assesses its impact on Somalia's conflict dynamics since it was established in 2010. It concludes that the training mission had a positive political impact on the EU's relationship with the government of Somalia and the African Union. However, the mission's impact on Somalia's conflict dynamics was very limited until 2019.
