Significance of China's New Economic Plans for Africa

The World Economic Forum posted a blog on 3 December 2020 titled "What Do China's New Economic Plans Mean for Africa?" by Lauren Johnston, SOAS China Institute.

China's second centennial goal seeks to "build a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong and culturally advanced and harmonious" by 2049.  In practical terms, this means China's economy will have reached the frontier in technology and science, and its citizens will be well off.

What are the implications of this for next year's Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Senegal?  The author suggests African nations must find a way to tap into the educational, technological, healthcare, and sustainability gains anticipated in China by 2049.
