Reuters published on 6 July 2021 an article titled "Tigray Rebel Chief Calls for Political Solution to Conflict in Ethiopia" by Maggie Fick.
Tsadkan Gebre Tensae, commander of the Tigray Defense Forces, called on 6 July for a negotiated cease fire and political solution with the Ethiopian government to end the conflict in Tigray Region. He said Tigrayan forces are exercising restraint but, if necessary, will try to end the conflict militarily. He accused the Ethiopian government of deliberately blocking aid from reaching Tigray Region.
Comment: Tsadkan, chief of staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces until his falling out with the TPLF leadership almost twenty years ago, has made an offer that could lead to a peaceful end to the conflict in Tigray Region.
