US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke on 6 July 2021 with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed concerning the situation in Tigray Region.
Blinken urged Abiy to commit to the complete withdrawal of Eritrean and Amhara forces from Tigray; unhindered humanitarian access to Tigray; establishment of a process to hold accountable those responsible for atrocities; agreement that neither internal nor external borders will be changed by force or unconstitutionally; and the holding of an inclusive political dialogue.
