The Washington Post published on 27 August 2021 an editorial titled "US Sanctions against Eritrea Are Overdue, But Incomplete."
The editorial argues that sanctions recently imposed against the head of Eritrea's military forces were overdue, but are also needed for Ethiopian government officials and possibly Tigrayan forces now operating outside Tigray Region.
