The United States Institute of Peace published on 19 January 2022 an analysis titled "Despite High Stakes in Ethiopia, China Sits on the Sidelines of Peace Efforts" by Joseph Sany and Thomas P. Sheehy.
China has remained mainly on the sidelines of peacebuilding efforts even though Ethiopia is a centerpiece of its Africa policy.
