The Voice of America published on 14 July 2022 an article titled "Somalia's President Speaks to Parents of Troops in Eritrea, Says to Return Soon" by Mohamed Dhaysane.
Following his visit to Eritrea, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud assured the parents of Somali troops in Eritrea that they will return home soon to fight against al-Shabaab. He did not announce a date for their return. President Hassan Sheikh denied that the Somali forces ever went to Tigray Region in Ethiopia to fight on behalf of Eritreans and the Ethiopian central government.
