The Washington Post posted on 1 March 2023 an article titled "Hundreds Massacred in Ethiopia Even as Peace Deal Was Being Reached" by Katharine Houreld, Meg Kelly, and Stefanie Le.
During the week before the 2 November 2022 peace deal between central government and Tigrayan forces, Eritrean soldiers who were supporting Ethiopian central government troops, took revenge in at least 10 villages in Tigray Region east of the town of Adwa. The massacres, detailed in interviews with 22 relatives of the deceased, resulted in more than 300 killed.
The Washington Post print edition of 1 March ran the detailed story on its front page.
