An attack on a commercial vessel sailing in the Gulf of Aden under a Liberian flag but linked to an Israeli businessman was likely conducted by Somali pirates according to the Pentagon. A US destroyer responded to the distress call and apprehended the five pirates. The last successful Somali pirate attack in waters off Somalia took place in 2017.
