U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued on 2 November 2023 a statement titled "The United States Calls for an Immediate Cessation of Attacks in El Fasher, North Darfur, Sudan."
The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces recently took control of Nyala in Darfur and is now engaging in attacks on El Fasher. The United States called for an immediate cessation in order to avoid additional civilian casualties.
