Projected Growth of Major Religions in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Pew Research Center published on 2 April 2015 a report on the projected growth of major religions in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).  In 2010, almost 63 percent of SSA's population was Christian; it is projected to decrease to 58.5 percent by 2050.  In 2010, the Muslim population of SSA was just over 30 percent and is projected to increase to just over 35 percent by 2050.

Chinese Muslims Along the Nile

Small numbers of Muslims from northwest China are making their way to Egypt to study Arabic and religion.  In a short but fascinating travel piece by Su Junxia, Humboldt University in Berlin, and Daniel Krahl, German Institute for International and Security Affairs, the authors describe the goals and experiences of this community.  The column titled "From the Yellow River to the Nile" appeared on the website of the Centre for Chinese Studies at Stellenbosch University on 14 January 2013.
