China and Brazil Agricultural Investments in Africa
Writing for Oxford University's China Africa Network, Henry Tugendhat commented on 24 April 2013 on Chinese and Brazilian agricultural investment in Africa in a piece titled "Lessons for DFID from Chinese and Brazilian Cooperation Programmes." He pointed out that Chinese and Brazilian investors in Africa have predominantly invested in cash crops and large-scale farming. Even when investment targets smallholders, it tends to support commercially oriented projects.
