Analysis of Somalia's Juba Agreement
Mogadishu-based The Heritage Institute for Policy Studies recently published an analysis of the Juba Agreement titled "The Jubba Agreement: Imperfect Progress." On 27 August 2013 the Somali Federal Government and the leaders of the Juba regions signed an agreement that offers some hope for the future of peace in the region. The Heritage Institute expressed concern, however, that the agreement is vague, falls short on key specifics, and imposes cumbersome obligations to the parties.
