China and Zimbabwe's Mining Sector

The Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) at Stellenbosch University in South Africa published on 3 February 2014 a brief commentary titled "Chinese Engagement in the Zimbabwean Mining Sector" by Nusa Tukic, research affiliate at CCS, and Tobela Tapula, research analyst at CCS.  The authors point out that African countries like Zimbabwe have benefited from Chinese investments to support their ailing economies.  These investment, however, are taking place amidst growing discontent with alleged Chinese human rights abuses in a number of African countries.
