Zambia, China and Labor Rights

The Centre for Chinese Studies at Stellenbosch University published on 20 July 2015 a commentary titled "The Eradication of Casualization in  Zambia: Local Agency and Economic Win-win in Sino-Zambian Relations" by Beyongo Dynamic, Australian Centre on China in the World.

Casualization or the hiring of labor for more than six months with intermittent written employment contracts not exceeding six months is a common practice by Chinese investors in Zambian mines.  Trade unionists argue that the practice undermines workers' rights and benefits.
