African Exports to China and Labor Rights

The Washington Post published on 3 March 2017 an article titled "Do African Exports to China Hurt Labor Rights? Here's What We Found" by Christopher Adolph, Vanessa Quince, and Aseem Prakash, all at the University of Washington.

A study of 49 African countries from 1985-2010 suggests that increasing African trade with China has had only a small negative effect on labor rights. In the case of specific countries such as Mauritania and the Congo, where exports to China have risen sharply, the negative effect was, however, substantial.
