Return of Somali Piracy

Foreign Policy published on 9 April 2017 an article titled "Somalia's Pirates Are Back in Business" by Jason Patinkin.

In a related item, the BBC reported on 9 April 2017 in a piece titled "Hijacked Ship's Crew Rescued from Pirates Near Somalia" that navy ships from India, China, and Pakistan pursued a hijacked vessel, boarded it, and rescued the crew as the hijackers fled.

Although recent Somali pirate attacks in the past two months are nowhere close to approaching the magnitude of the problem prior to 2013, after a long hiatus there have been several successful attacks that raise questions about the possible revival of this threat off the coast of Somalia.
